The CrossFit Diaries: Running is the Devil

I read this article (full URL: the other day and it is just excellent. I highly encourage it for everyone. I also couldn’t have read it an a more appropriate time considering the workout that I completed Friday night:


8 sets of:

1 Clean + 1 Front Squat

Workout of the Day:

Complete as many rounds as possible in 15 minutes of:

10 Hang Power Cleans

Run 200m

10 Pull Ups (Chest to Bar if you have them)

Run 200m

Clean + front squat was great. No problems there and I’m starting to see some good progress on my cleans. I can feel my hips and adductors getting a little tight, so I’ll need to put some focus on keeping them limber, but otherwise feeling good. I knew the WOD would be tough for me because I’m not much of a runner and, well, pull ups. I went heavy on the hang power clean because the two other guys in the class that were lifting similar to me went heavy as well and I’m too competitive not to try and keep up.

The workout smoked me. I completed 3 full rounds and was smoked. I did however push through the mental barrier I hit and kept pushing as much as I could. While I wasn’t going as fast as I’d like, reading that article this week certainly helped so it was great to push through.

Other than that, it was a great workout and I could feel it all weekend.
