The CrossFit Diaries: A Restful Workout

I knew coming into Thursday that it is the strength make up and goal development, so I was happy to kind of have a day off from a strength perspective. I was also looking forward getting some work on muscle ups.

Strength/Skill:

Strength Make Up and Goal Development

Workout of the Day:

Complete as many rounds as possible in 15 minutes of:

10 Toes to Bar

10 Push Ups or Ring Dips

25 KB Swings

For my muscle up development I was working on 2 primary things, my hip “pop” to get up high enough to pull through correctly. The other was working to develop a stronger kip to aid that hip pop when trying to get myself up. After working through several sets of both, I tried to get a full muscle up. I’m still not getting my hips high enough to make the pull through, but I’m getting better. My goal is to get one by the end of the month and I am going to do it. I’m determined.

Jason advised us on the WOD that if we were feeling sore or tight from the previous workouts to treat this as a more recuperative workout and go at about 80%. I heeded his advice and took it a little easier than I typically might. Finished 5 full rounds by the end and had completed the toes to bar and push ups/ring dips of the 6th before time ran out. Just covered in sweat from the full 15 minutes of movement. I feel pretty good today and not too sore, so going  a little lighter was the smart play. Jason also mentioned that Friday’ s workout was going to be a beast with plenty of pull-ups. We’ll see how tonight goes.

Overall I’m really liking this everyday thing. It’s feels good to be going hard after this and I want to keep it going. Beach season is right around the corner, so it’s time to whip this body into shape.

Stay classy.
