The CrossFit Diaries: What do I do Now?

After an absolutely brutal Wednesday workout, I was looking forward to working on some goals and having a slightly easier, more recuperative workout on Thursday. It’s not that I’m sore or overly worked, it is just nice to have a workout where you get to go a little easier before getting a monster on Friday.

Strength Make Up and Goal Development

Workout of the Day:

In 10 minutes, Complete 5 rounds of:

5 Deadlifts

10 Pull Ups

15 Air Squats

After 5 rounds complete max Handstand Push Ups with the remainder of time.

I worked on double unders, handstands (tried a handstand walk to no avail) and muscle ups. Double unders are still hit or miss for me, but I’ll keep working and I know I’ll get them. Hand stands are coming along nicely and I’m hoping I’ll be able to handstand walk in the relatively near future. Muscle ups are now down to centimeters away from being accomplished. I actually was up there but it shocked me and I kind of had no idea what to do next, so my arms slipped out sideways on me. I did it again a couple more times. I need to pull more towards my hips because I’m getting the rings too high into my armpits to hold a reasonable position. I’m going to get one soon, I can just tell. On a related note, my shoulder is back to 100%, so I’m glad it wasn’t anything serious.

I knew that I’d be able to crush the WOD, it was more of a question of how quickly I’d get through the movements and how long I’d be working on handstand push ups. I went with 225 lbs on the dead lift, which was probably a little light for what I can handle. I thought the pull ups would get me more, but I guess I’ve really improved because I worked through them without too much difficulty.  I completed the 5 rounds right around 7 minutes (6:55) and moved on to the handstand push ups. I got 20 handstand push ups in total and when I was struggling to have good depth on them switched to push ups (I was the only person in the class doing handstand push ups, felt kind of badass) and did another 30 push ups. Solid workout overall and felt good afterward.

They named today’s workout “Valentines Day Massacre” so I’m sure it’ll be really easy (sarcasm font).

Stay classy.
